Bain Capital Private Equity invests in Showa Aircraft Industry

TOKYO, May 11, 2020 – Bain Capital Private Equity today announced that it has completed a majority investment in Showa Aircraft Industry Co Ltd (7404:TSE). Bain Capital now fully owns the business and Showa Aircraft Industry has been delisted from the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The total consideration of the transaction was approximately ¥90 billion (US$817 million).

Founded in 1937, Showa Aircraft is a unique enterprise contributing to several important Japanese business sectors including manufacturing of transportation equipment, real estate and consumer services. The company is a leading manufacturer of products for the transportation industry, including honeycomb core panels and other industrial applications. It also operates a significant portfolio of properties and commercial facilities in Akishima City, including golf courses, hotels and shopping malls.
