Team Bain Capital raises more than $135,000 for Boston Children’s Hospital at the Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am Team Bain Capital captain Jay Corrigan (second from left) with draft pick Ray Bourque (second from right) and NHL Pro-Am founder Mike Griffin (at right)

In late April, the Bain Capital hockey team took the ice with former NHL stars at the annual Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am Charity Hockey Tournament to raise funds for the Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) Pediatric Head Trauma Unit, one of the world's premier pediatric neuroscience research and treatment centers. The event, which brings together teams of professionals from across the nation, offers a unique experience for attendees to lace up their skates with some of the most legendary hockey stars in history. Team Bain Capital once again paced the fundraising field, contributing more than $135,000 to date to support BCH. In total, this year's Pro-Am has raised more than $665,000 to support research and treatment of childhood head trauma.

Founded by former Bain Capital employees and brothers, Corey and Mike Griffin, the NHL Pro-Am has raised more than $2 million since its inception in 2012. The tournament was re-named in Corey Griffin's honor following his unexpected passing in August 2014.

The tournament weekend kicked-off on April 22 with the annual draft night event, where competitors shared an evening of fun, food and entertainment. Each team had the opportunity to "draft" a former NHL superstar, and Bain Capital again selected Hall of Fame defenseman and Boston Bruins legend Ray Bourque.

"This year's tournament was another terrific success," said Bain Capital Private Equity Chief Financial Officer and team captain Jay Corrigan. "This is one of the marquee events we participate in to support Boston Children's Hospital and seeing Corey and Mike's vision fulfilled makes the tournament incredibly special to every member of our team. The impact of the funds raised cannot be understated – especially this year, where a portion of the money raised will help fund a statewide baseline concussion testing program for all high schools in Massachusetts. That program is going to make a tangible impact in communities across our state."

The Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am is the single largest fundraiser for the Pediatric Head Trauma Unit and one of the most prominent examples of the deep and abiding partnership between Bain Capital and BCH, which has seen hundreds of thousands of dollars contributed to support the vital research and treatment that BCH provides to children from across the country.
