This month, 17 Bain Capital employees and 6,804 other friendly cyclists participated in the 40th Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). The PMC is an annual bike-a-thon that crosses Massachusetts to raise money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. It is an incredible event that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the US, with 100% of every rider-raised dollar going directly to Dana-Farber. Over the past 40 years, PMC cyclists have ridden to raise and contribute more than $700 million (and counting!) to cancer research and treatment.
Many PMC alums would argue that the Pan Mass Challenge is one of the most wonderful weekends of the year in Massachusetts. There is an indescribable energy created when thousands of people get together in pursuit of a common goal: to ride, help, cheer, show support, honor friends and family or lend a hand. In the words of Josh Bekenstein, who rode for the 27th time this year, "it brings out all that is best in the human spirit."
This year's team was smaller than in past years, but no less mighty! Riders set their alarms for 4am and rose before the sun to start crushing miles and PB&J sandwiches for breakfast. The weather could not have been better and spirits could not have been higher.
Team Bain Capital would like to thank all of you for your support, encouragement and generous donations to Dana Farber this year. Your donation makes you a part of this amazing, life-saving, faith-in-humanity restoring event for a cause that touches us all.
To date, Team Bain Capital 2019 has raised $930,636.51 of their ambitious $2 million goal.
