The Bain Capital Private Equity team joined forces with City Year on August 18th, 2016 in their annual day of service.
50 volunteers from Private Equity came together to help rehabilitate outdoor common spaces for students at the UP Academy in Dorchester, MA. Teams undertook a series of projects which included the painting of colorful playground graphics, the beautification of the Gross Motor Room, and the construction and design of new benches for the Peace Garden, which will all serve to kick-off a powerful academic year .
The outcome of these efforts are a more vibrant community climate for the students and neighbors of UP Academy, as well as a bonding experience for the Bain Capital employees who served as volunteers.
The day truly demonstrated what it means to "live our values" as a firm, and was another powerful example of the impact that we all have in our communities.
Attendee testimonials:
"Members of Private Equity spent a wonderful afternoon helping City Year clean-up and beautify UP Academy in advance of the upcoming school year. We enjoyed getting our hands dirty building benches for the playground, repainting the recreational room, and creating beautiful murals that we hope the students will enjoy. The day was a great opportunity to not only partner with a fantastic organization but to also contribute our time to an important local community cause and it was very rewarding to know that our efforts will be appreciated every day by the students who attend UP Academy."

"I thought the Service Day was really rewarding and fun. It's always nice to give back to the community in some way, no matter how big or small. The people at City Year were super friendly and seemed to genuinely appreciate the help we were able to provide. I think it's great that Bain Capital cares about volunteering as much as we do. It's a good way to not only get out of the office but also to remind us of how important it is to support our communities."
